Unlike many of the auctions on Yahoo Japan, with doll auctions, what you see is not necessarily what you get. If the auction shows a picture of a doll, you may be bidding on:

* the doll as pictured
* the doll without the outfit
* the outfit without the doll
* just the doll head
* the doll head without the wig

If there are multiple dolls shown, the auction may be for only one, or for some combination thereof.

We strongly encourage our customers who are bidding on dolls to first review the auctions with a tool such as the Babelfish machine translator, to better understand exactly what is being auctioned. We cannot take responsibility if what you receive is not what you expected, especially when the seller has stated it in the description. (Unlike many other auctions, doll sellers are generally very good about stating what is up for auction!)

Of course, Babelfish isn't perfect...
Sometimes the machine translation of a doll auction page can be very confusing, since the terms can be phonetically translated or otherwise garbled.

Here are some of the most frequently confusing translations:

NOADO LOAM = Noix de Rome
DOLLAR FI = Dollfie
RIKITEKKUSU = acrylics (the paint used for custom doll heads)
BOKKUSU = Volks
ROSUTO = Lost, as in the Lost Angels series of Volks dolls
LOSS TOENJIERUSU = Another phonetic translation of "Lost Angels"
CASL = Castle, usually on dolls that were exclusive to Licca Castle in Japan
MICKEY = Mitsuki, one of Takara Jenny's friends

You get the idea. If you have a question or doubt, ask before bidding!

A note about categories
Dolls do not tend to be listed strictly within their categories, especially if the doll does not fall clearly into one of the few doll categories provided by Yahoo Japan.

We encourage collectors to browse not only the primary category linksfor the dolls they are interested in, but also any categories which seem related -- for example, many Volks dolls on auction do not show up in the search for "Volks", but can be found by going through the listings in the "custom doll, super dollfie" category.
