Q: What is a "deputy service"?

A: A deputy is a person or organization who you authorize to act on your behalf. Celga offers this service for purchasing items from Japanese web sites and bidding on items offered on Japanese auction sites. We charge a fee for these services.

Q: What specific services does Celga offer?

A: Celga offers deputy services for (shopfaq)buying directly from most Japanese web sites and (bidfaq)bidding services for the following Japanese auction sites: (yj)Yahoo Japan, (mbok)Mbok, (rakuten)rakuten, (wanted)Wanted, (bidders)Bidders, and (gurguru)GuruGuru auctions.

We also offer (sellfaq)selling services for Yahoo Japan and Mbok auctions.

Q: I can't read Japanese! Could you read this webpage for me?

A: We're sorry, but Celga does not offer personal translation services. However, our web pages have links to automated translation services available via the web. These sites are very good and can provide you with most of the important information contained on a web page.

Since these are automated, sometimes their translations are confusing at best. We have a (misctranslate)list of the most common confusing translations, or you can (contactus)contact us and we can try to help translate the translation as time permits.

Please note that any translation help we provide will be to the best of our ability, but as we have stated elsewhere, we make no warranty as to the condition of any goods, or to the accuracy of our translations or their relationship, if any, to the goods themselves. It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to decide if they wish to bid or buy.

Q: How do I get started bidding on auctions with Celga?

A: We have an easy to follow timeline in our (bidtimeline)bidding faq!

Q: How do I get started shopping from Japanese websites with Celga?

A: We have an easy to follow timeline in our (shoptimeline)shopping faq!

Q: What will be the total cost of my item?

A: We can't tell you in advance what the exact cost of your item will be because until we have the items in hand, we don't know what the exact shipping costs will be or what the value of the yen will be against the US dollar. But we can help you with an estimate!

The final cost for any item will be the purchase price or auction final value price plus the bank wire transfer fee, internal shipping from the seller to Celga's Japanese facilities, international shipping from Celga to you, and the fees for Celga's services. Please see below for the details of each of these charges.

Please note that we round all purchase prices and auction final value prices up to the nearest dollar.

Q: What are Celga's fees for deputy services?

A: Our fees are based on the final auction value of any item or total purchase price from any single webstore. We charge a flat rate of $10 per 10,000 yen, with the exception being items priced at 1,000 or less, for which we charge a flat rate of $5.00.

Here is a chart of our fees for items up to 50,000 yen:

Up to 1,000 yen $5 (minimum fee per transaction/auction/shop item)
1,001 to 10,000 yen $10
10,001 to 20,000 yen $20
20,001 to 30,000 yen $30
30,001 to 40,000 yen $40
40,001 to 50,000 yen $50

Please note that these are in addition to the final auction value or purchase price of your item, the bank wire transfer fee, the internal shipping fee from the seller to Celga, and the international shipping fee from Celga to you.

When shopping from a Japanese website, please remember that our minimum fee is $5 per item purchased. If you are planning to purchase a large number of low priced items from a web site, please (contactus)contact us in advance about possible fee adjustments.

Please also see our information about (aftercombine)combined fees for auctions.

Q: What are additional costs for any item besides Celga's fee and the purchase price or final auction value?

A: The following costs may be incurred with any purchase or auction Celga deals with on your behalf:

Bank Wire Transfer Fee: $2.00
Japanese sellers almost universally insist upon being paid by direct bank transfer of funds. Each of these transfers costs about $2.00, which is paid by the buyer.

We incur this fee whenever we make a payment on your behalf. Please understand that unlike US sellers, Japanese auction sellers expect to be paid almost immediately after the auction ends, so we cannot hold and combine payments if you're bidding on auctions from the same seller that are not ending at more or less the same time. We have more information on when fees may be combined (aftercombine)here.

Internal shipping in Japan from the seller to Celga: $5 and up
This is a necessary step since most Japanese sellers will not ship outside Japan. It also allows us to ensure your item was received in reasonable condition before it is sent on to you. The cost generally starts at $5 and goes up from there depending on item weight and the shipping service selected by the seller.
Please see our (shipjapanfaq)internal Japanese shipping FAQ for more information about shipping from the seller to Celga!

International Shipping From Celga To You: $12 and up
The exact shipping charge will depend on the number of items in your package, how much they weigh, and what service is used to ship them to you. Please see our (shipfaq)Shipping FAQ for all the details about international shipments!

Sales Tax: 5% (webshop orders only)
Japan has a nationwide sales tax of 5%. It's charged for every website purchase.

Large Item Handling and Storage Fee: $10.00
This fee applies ONLY to exceptionally large, heavy, or bulky items, such as some car parts, life size plushes, or large framed artwork. These items need special attention outside our usual handling processes, so we need to charge an extra fee for them. If you have any questions about whether or not your item would require this additional charge, please (contactus)contact us and we'll be happy to help you out!

Large Item Packing and Shipping fee: varies
This fee applies only to exceptionally large, heavy, or extraordinarily valuable items that have packing and shipping needs far beyond those needed for most items. If have any questions about whether or not your items would fall into this category, please (contactus)contact us!

Miscellaneous fees:
Some sellers pass on the auction listing and final value fees that the auction web sites charge them, and if we are charged for these, you will also be responsible for them.

Q: Can you give me some examples of total costs for some items?

A: Sure! Please note that these are theoretical examples, based on an exchange rate of $1.00 = 114 yen:

1000 yen doujinshi

Final price: $8
Bank fee: $2
Shipping within Japan: $4
Celga fee: $5
------------------------------------------------
Total before international shipping: $19

18,000 yen anime cel

Final Price: $158
Bank fee: $2
Shipping within Japan: $8
Celga fee: $20
-------------------------------------------------
Total before international shipping: $188

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept PayPal (all forms), credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover), and US Domestic Money Orders sent to our US address only. All payments must be sent in US dollars to privetkeigo@me.com

For non-US customers, we accept Paypal, credit card or International Postal Money Orders denominated in US dollars.

If none of these methods are available to you, we are happy to consider other payment methods on a case by case basis, but you must discuss it with us before placing an order or making a bid.

No matter what form of payment you send us, please make sure that you include your Celga User ID, your full name, your full address, and your invoice number with it. We want to make sure that we credit your payment to your account as quickly as possible!

Please note that (goldfaq)Celga Gold Accounts must be paid with a (goldcc)credit card on file.

If you have an issue with any of these forms of payment, please (contactus)contact us.

Q: May I pay my Celga invoices directly in yen or in another currency?

A: We're sorry, but we accept payment in US dollars only.

Q: When is the amount on my invoice due?

A: It is due upon receipt. Invoices not paid after 14 calendar days will be considered in arrears and penalties may apply.

Q: What are the penalties if I fail to pay my Celga invoices?

A: Since late payment of invoices makes it difficult for us to pay the Japanese sellers, we need to charge penalties to those customers who do not pay their invoices in a timely manner.

Invoices not paid after 14 days will incur a late payment penalty of $25 or 10% of the unpaid balance, whichever is greater, per month that the invoice remains unpaid. We also reserve the right to charge an additional $10 fee per month for (genmorefees)large or bulky items.

Items whose invoices have not been paid in full in three months will considered to be abandoned and will become the sole property of Celga. Any payments previously received towards these invoices will also be forfeited, as per our (useragreement)User Agreement.

Q: How do you calculate exchange rate of yen to dollars?

A: Our exchange rate reflects the actual rate our bank gives us. This is somewhat less than the rates posted on many currency site on the web. Those figures are the Interbank Exchange Rates, the very best rates available which banks offer only to each other. We wish we were offered those rates!

Our current exchange rate is always listed on our (home)Home page and our (news)News page, and is subject to change at any time.

Q: Do you also buy items or bid on auctions in countries other than Japan?

A: We're sorry, but Celga provides deputy services for Japanese sites only.

Q: Are there any items which are restricted or on which you won't bid or which you will not purchase?

A: Due to the varying laws in different parts of the world and the difficulties in shipping, Celga will not handle bids or purchase requests including but not limited to the following categories:

liquor
airsoft or other realistic guns

We reserve the right to make judgments on individual items in these categories:

car parts (some are simply too large to mail or require in-person pick up in Japan, a service we do not provide)
other large/fragile items that might be prohibitive to ship
any items with unreasonably burdensome requirements for payment or shipping

We will process items of an adult nature, but per our (useragreement)User Agreement, we reserve the right to require proof of our customer's age before doing so.

We also reserve the right to refuse requests for other items of a questionable nature on a case by case basis. We will not knowingly bid on any illegal item but cannot be responsible for knowing the specific laws of your state or country. You are solely responsible for any legal issues that may arise from your purchases.
